Research Fields

Accretion on all scales:

Dr. Liu's primary research interests are on accretion physics in various astronomical systems. Her current and previous work focus on the accretion flows, in particular the accretion disk corona model in black hole X-ray binaries and active galactic nuclei.

Achievements

Dr. Liu and her collaborators established a disk-corona coupling model, interpreting the spectral state transition in BHXRBs as disk evaporation.

A two-phase accretion model, originating from condensation of wind, was developed for AGN and Cyg X-1.

A magnetic reconnection-heated corona model was proposed to solve energy shortage problem in AGN.
